Kenya 2026

Join God’s work in Gotani, Kenya through our partnership with Nurmay Missions. Be part of what God is doing in East Africa as we live out our value of sending on mission to multiply. This trip focuses on serving alongside our partners, Abel and Christa Muanica, who lead Nurmay Missions and Nurmay Christian Academy.

What to expect

The village of Gotani is home to Nurmay Missions, located in the Coastal Province of Kenya, roughly 50 kilometers inland from the port city of Mombasa. Our partnership helps advance Nurmay’s mission to train and send indigenous missionaries at the MiTEC training center, while supporting the education and discipleship of local children through Nurmay Christian Academy.

Work at Nurmay is wide-ranging. No two days are the same.
Participants may: teach Bible lessons in the school, read to children in the library, serve meals or assist in classrooms, lead evangelism training at MiTEC, help with construction or repair projects depending on trip goals.

The Good, the hard, and the holy:

The Good: You’ll experience the deep joy and warmth of the Kenyan people. English is commonly spoken, and team members often describe the children’s laughter and worship as “pure joy.” The food and hospitality are exceptional—fresh fruit, homemade bread, and meals prepared daily by our hosts.

The Hard: Travel is long—over 20 hours of flights from Charlotte to Nairobi, plus an hour flight to Mombasa and a jeep ride to Gotani. Hot water isn’t guaranteed, water conservation is essential, and the climate (mid to upper 80s during Kenya’s winter) can be demanding. Flexibility and humility are a must.

The Holy: God uses discomfort to deepen dependence. Expect Him to stretch you—through cultural differences, new rhythms of worship, and serving in ways that may be unfamiliar but transformative.
